GoPrint Support

Read through these troubleshooting points when purchasing new equipment, installing GoPrint for the first time, and verifying that your system is properly configured. For custom configurations, go to the bottom of this page.

Q.  I am experiencing garbled printout, what should I do?

A.  First, reinstall your printer drivers in Windows, with the GoPrints attached. If you are now printing, great! If you are still trying to print unsuccessfully in:

Windows 3.1. Go to Print Manager and highlight the online printer. Click Options > Setup > Connect. If fast printing direct to port is on, turn it off. Click OK.

Windows 95/98. Click Start > Settings > Printer. Highlight the active printer and click the right mouse button. This will take you to Properties. Click on Details > Spool Settings. Data format should be RAW, and "disable bi-directional support for this printer" should be turned on. Click OK. Click on Port Settings. ONLY "spool MS-DOS print jobs" should be on. Click OK.

Q.  I am having problems making the GoPrint work in Win 95.
A.  The most common problem is the configuration of the LPT port. We have some suggested Windows 95 port information that may help. To see if you have an ECP port, Hit Start > Settings > Control Panel. When in Control Panel, double click on the System icon. Then click on Device > Manager Find PORTs and click on the plus (+) sign. You may see many ports depending on your system setup. We are interested in the printer port. Check to see if it says Printer Port or ECP. If it says ECP, click on Driver tab, then change driver button. Choose to show all devices. Choose HP for the manufacturer. Click on HP PRINTER PORT, click OK and restart. If this fix does not disable the ECP port then we need to send a fix disk to change the port from ECP to a standard printer port. If this is the case, call 800-492-2320 for personal support.

Q.  GoPrint is not working with my bi-directional printer.
A.  You may have to disable the bi-directional capabilities for the GoPrint to work. Click on Start > Settings > Printers. Highlight the printer that you want to change and then click the right mouse button. Go to Properties, click the Details tab, then click the Spool Settings button. Change data format to RAW and click on DISABLE BI-DIRECTIONAL SUPPORT FOR THIS PRINTER. If it is shaded gray, then just click OK, and click Apply on the next screen.

Q.  Nothing is printing.
A.  If the green light on the printer adapter is flashing, go to the next step. Make sure the power connections and cabling are secure and tight. Use only the power supplies provided by AeroComm. Make sure that the printer is on-line and ready to print. Reset printer if necessary. A red light on the adapter indicates a problem with the printer. If the green light still does not flash, call customer service.

Step 2. Ensure that there are five (5) feet between each adapter. If you have configured the adapters, verify that the computer unit and the printer unit are configured with the same information concerning name, password, channel. If the computer adapter green light is on solid, go to the next step. If green light still does not come on solid, call customer service.

Step 3. Does the selected print driver in the application software match the printer you are using? If not, delete the print driver and reinstall the print driver with the GoPrint adapter attached to the parallel port. Restart Windows. Is the correct LPT port selected? Should be LPT1. Check out our Port information page to find out if your Win 95 port may be causing the problem. If the selected print drivers are set for bi-directional usage, change to unidirectional or disable bi-direction. Restart Windows.

Q.  Print job stops before the printout is complete.
A.  Check all connections and power supplies. Select the correct print driver. Delete and reinstall print drivers with adapter attached to computer. Check that the adapters have at least 5 feet between each adapter. Increase the time-out settings for both the printer adapter, computer adapter, and windows print time-out. Refer to DOS or Windows manuals to increase time-out default settings. Reset the system by canceling any jobs in the queue, cycle power to the adapters and reset the printer.

Q.  Print time is excessive.
A.  Reposition the adapters or move printer and/or computer closer together. Printer time-outs are set too high, reset time outs.

Q.  Additional software configurations?
A.  As there are many computer and printer environments, it is possible that a system may require additional software configuration to work with GoPrint. A list of identified system issues and fixes can be found in the Custom Configuration section at the bottom of this page
.
